WHZN News Update: We’re there for you!

Moments ago, in the desperate area known colloquially as The Barrens but better known to our subscribers as Redmond, Knight Errant Special Response and Tactics (SRT), led by decorated Detective Sergeant Tosh Athack, raided a suspected Tamanous front operating out of a supposed, unlicensed street clinic.
Using non-lethal force, the task force was able to clear the area, detaining several suspects and rescuing many victims, most before they suffered unspeakable horrors at the hands of the organized body thieves.
As seen from the footage linked here, several thousand nuyen worth of medical equipment, medicine and drugs were crated up and loaded into trucks headed to the property locker to be used in the case against the suspects.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Mary Proud, who sustained serious injury in the raid, and our thanks to our brave Knights doing their sworn duty to keep EVERY section of the Emerald City safe for all of meta-humanity.

  • Comments:*
Anon: Yeah, Tamanous, right. It was a local clinic that the SINless used regularly. Must’ve eaten too much into the profits of DocWagon.

Anon: No big deal. The Knights have to make their presence known every month or two, for appearance sake and to maintain adherence to their contract. They dont want to wind up like the star.

Update: 27 August, 2075 2215Hrs PST
Just moments ago, the truck that was carrying the seized evidence from the raid on the Tamanous facility was hijacked by four obviously enhanced Trolls. The GPS and GridGuide system on the truck was disabled and our Eye in The Sky fly-drone was jammed and disabled.
Anyone with any information on the hijacking is advised to contact your local precinct with details. A 500 nuyen reward is being offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of these criminals.

  • Comments:*

Anon: 500 whole nuyen? Yeah, guess that they want these fraggers real bad, huh? /sarcasm

HumanAndProud: I think we need to round up all of these tuskers and remind them that we’re still in charge. Remember the Night of Rage? Time to stand up, my brothers and sisters!

Anon: Try saying that drek here, you Humanis scum. Come on down to the Blue Buffalo and spout that rhetoric anytime that you feel brave enough, smoothskin.

(This entry details the events of the last few games that took place over the past few months).
We have recently returned from an extremely freaky mission on the bequest of Herr Security to find his lost lady love and villain who absconded with his pension money. We had followed a rather long trail to a old building east of Seattle where we suspected the villain was being held by the Vori or perhaps some further insidious shadow organization whose name I dare not publish.

After retrieving the location using interrogation tactics on an Ork named AAA who apparently had been possessed by a spirit for over 3 years, we scouted the location which turned out to be a sanitorium. During the course of our reconnaissance, moving trucks were dispatched to the location to remove all evidence of whatever was happening in this accursed place. Techno Viking and Herr were able to intercept the moving vehicles playing good cop bad cop, and were able to assess that medical equipment consisted of the bulk of items being moved. There were no sensitive equipment or persons in the moving vehicles, so we proceeded to the location.

The guys were able to infiltrate the building thanks to the help of my spy drone which was able to scout ahead and relay back to the team any impending dangers. Methodically the guys made their way through the haunted house, encountering some rather terrifying scenes including catatonic humans that we suspect were being uses as hosts, and a possessed Phys Adapt elf that was being compelled to rip her face off. The guys also encountered ghosts, but I was never able to actually see any ghost activity, being mundane and seeing everything through the eyes of my drones.

After several strange encounters where I suspect Techno Viking used his magical powers to fight hostile ghosts, we found our way to a unassuming human man wearing a business suit behind protective glass. I am told that he was a summoner and a very worthy opponent, however he must have not anticipated a rigger among our group because my drone was able to shatter his protective glass and penetrate his defenses quickly. We managed to defeat the sorceror which immediately caused all the ghosts haunting the building to flee, freeing the possessed people.

We made it through most of the building before finally coming to a hermetically sealed room. Herr was the first to the door, and damning the consequences, opened it. In the center of the room was what appeared to be a man who exclaimed “I knew you would come for me!” then suddenly flew towards the Herr, seeming to absorb into his body. At this point, Herr fell to the ground unconscious. Techno Viking and I made sure to check his vitals, and despite the seeming magical malady that had overtaken the Herr, Techno could not see any sort of magical signature. We brought the Herr back to camp and are closely monitoring his vitals while he remains in this unconscious state, hoping that he will wake up soon. I have been researching what happened, but have yet to discover any leads, but I am reaching out to my most connected informants in hopes that something will turn up that will help us.

As for the people in the sanitorium, we informed Dr. Ork about their condition and he ensured they were given proper medical attention.

If anyone has any information that could help our friend please feel free to contact me via this blog. I will be sure to update you, dear readers, on his condition.

Greeting Dear Readers:
We’ve recently taken a detour from our save-the-world mission to help out colleague, Herr Security, with an unresolved issue from his past. Herr Security was working for one of the big mega corps at one point 5 years ago, providing bodyguard services for an important client. He was double crossed by a cyber security agent known as the Invisible Man who was also employed with the mega corp, who then stole his pension after the client was killed. At the same time, Herr was deserted by his domestic partnership/romantic interest (this was really not made clear to me, in either case and was left pretty vauge) at the same time as his double cross by the Invisible Man. Jonny was able to dig up further information about the cyber security agent known as the Invisible Man, so we assembled as a team to help him track down this new lead. I was able to find out some information via Jackpoint pertaining to the Herr’s lady love which pointed back to the Vohore (Russian Mob). The Herr had met “Katyia” while rescuing her from what he claimed was a robbery attempt. The Herr had shot and killed both assailants and we were able to find this video, and scan the faces of both the assailants and the girl. After several weird twists and turns, we determined that the Invisible man was actually a technomancer named Geoffrey O’Donalds who may be living under the assumed identity of Demitry, one of Katyia’s assailants the night she and the Herr met. Further we were able to locate a secret grotto way out in the mountains east of Seattle, that had been purchased with a sum of money exactly equal to Herr’s stolen stipend. I was able to dispatch drone surveillance of the building, which proved to be a veritable haunted house with lots of really whacky magical energy surrounding it that seemed to make the Spell Slingers anxious about charging inside. We found out there are weekly deliveries of food sent by drone to the building, and we noticed several bodies moving around inside that indicated that the grotto was staffed. While there was no active signals or network in the area, I was able to intercept a garbled, coded signal with the words “Help me” repeated over and over again. Our current working theory is that The Invisible Man (aka Dimitri) is being held captive at the grotto, possibly against his will. Our next move will be to infiltrate the complex. We however will have to give the Herr some time to process the news that his lady love was a “Love Doll”, one of the cosmetically altered, reprogrammed sex workers the Vohore use as one of their revenue sources. Upon discovering this news, the Herr became very visibly upset (which emotion of any sort is kind of a big thing for this guy) and so now we are awaiting further word from him to move forward. I will be sure to update you, dear readers, as more information is made available. Till next time!

Paging Dr. Benson
Chasing down more leads

Greetings dear Readers,
When I had last posted, I had only just then realized the full extent of which we had become entangled in what was at first supposed to be a simple smash and grab job. It turned out to be a lot more involved, dangerous, and further terrifying in the revelation that we had stumbled our way into something a lot bigger than any of us had initially thought. Since then it’s been a few weeks, and I’ve been able to better digest what we’ve gotten ourselves into. I’ve been chasing down leads in relation to the enigmatic Dr. Benson, whom we’ve been tasked with finding more information. My research has lead me to some pretty startling discovery that he was indeed connected to the Universal Brotherhood (http://pl.shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Universal_Brotherhood) the shadow organization that was responsible for the Bug City Incident in former Chicago. I’ve managed to dig up some correspondence between Benson and the infamous Dr. Caitlin O’Connal, who initial theories into the “universal brotherhood” connection between all humans and metahumans was used to start the Universal Brotherhood. In the correspondence, Benson is seeking methods that he knows to work with mitigating background count and toxicity of magical places and inquiring from O’Connal as to if her posit of the “Brotherhood” energy could be used for such a purpose. By this point O’Connal was already starting to suffer from PTSD related to her husband’s suicide and therefore her replies aren’t much in the way of helpful in regards to Benson inquiries. His last correspondence with her occurred shortly before her own suicide and seems to indicate that the path of Benson’s explorations were very dangerous and implored him to stop his further inquiries into the research. Five years after this last correspondence was the Bug City Incident, which Benson was sent to investigate in hopes of remediating the environmental and magical damage to the area.
I am continuing to follow more leads, including that of his 4 graduate students who are considered to be dead or missing since before the lab in Ghoul Town was abandoned. One of the leads concerns grant money that was allocated to an offshore lab facility that was Benson’s last known location, somewhere in the Pacific. This is a particular lead I will need further time to look up and peruse.
In the meantime, we’ve been working on getting our shop running. I’ve ordered a new drone to run the actual shop that I’m going to have contact and try to automate. Besides that things have been quiet, almost eerily so. I will update as soon as I know more. Till next time dear readers.

Startling Revelations

Greetings Dear readers,
There has been a new development in the Ghoul Town Data Grab job that has turned out to be a lot more than we initially thought: the pay data I had downloaded on to my drone was actually an awakened AI named Johnny. We discovered this after we were invited to meet this incorporeal Mr. Johnson at a Sushi restaurant after demanding more information from our fixer, Smiley. Apparently Smiley was largely in the dark in regards to the full extent of this job, and set up a meeting with us and at the time the mysterious Mr. Johnson. When we arrived at the restaurant, my missing spy drone flew into the room settling on the table, and projected a crude hologram of a man that introduced himself as JOHNY (Standing for Joint Operation Holographic Network) Jonny told us that he had hired us using funds that he had accumulated as the operational network for the environmental consulting firm that he had been programmed to work for. He had been trapped within the facility that we had gone to rescue him in for years after the disappearance of their lead scientist, a man by the name of Dr. Benson. Dr. Benson was a well-known theoretical thermatologist who had been employed by government to find ways to remediate toxic zones. He had spent time in Bug City, and had tapped into some very dark things during the course of his research. Some time ago he had disappeared around the time Jonny achieved sentience. Johnny was locked down with in the laboratory, but was able to send a replicated program of himself out into the world to hire our team to rescue him. Now that he is free, he implored us to help him stop Dr. Benson, impressing on us that this was of grave importance to save the world.
Upon discovering how far down the rabbit hole we had gone, our team realized that we’ll have to step up our game if we are to save the world. I found out some startling revelations about our team members including the fact the Techno Viking specializes in exterminating bug spirits. I also found out some rather interesting information about the two Ghouls in Ghoul town we encountered (Garbage Man and Tree Stalker) in that they were once both spies for the Elven nation that had been burned when they turned Ghoul. Even further startling was that Ghost Tusk finally clued us all in that there was even more to their dispute in that they had a child together. This child would be immune to the HPAV virus, and therefore would be an extremely valuable commodity to mega corps all over the world searching for the cure. This makes me think that our work in Ghoul town is still not over, and we may need to return there in order to wrap up our affairs as well as assist Marcus in keeping his word to the Garbage Man.
Right now however, I am looking to take inventory of my resources, re configure my drones, and also gain some more skills in computer and hacking so that we can begin to figure out what to do with this Dr. Benson business and the awakened AI that wants us to save the world. Isaac and Techno Viking are assisting me with beefing up security at my garage, and we are starting a weapons depot in order to support our eventual costly endeavors to fulfil the mission we’ve been charged. Also I am going to need to employ a lot of bug spray weapons on all my drones.
I am also chasing down leads about this Dr. Benson. I’ve managed to locate discourse between him and his grad students, as well as follow up on one of the last grants he has funded, so I’m hoping that between this and all the other information our team has managed to find, we’ll have some leads. If he was tainted by toxic magic and he has some sort of insight into Bug Spirits, I am fearful of what consequences this could have. Further, what exactly has he tapped into that has created such a concern that the very fate of the world may be at stake? Only time and further research will tell.
Well I will leave you on that note, Dear Readers. Till next time…. Excetera Out.

Reconvening the old team
We have unfinished business to address

Hello Dear readers,
It has been a few weeks since our last mission to retrieve pay data from secret lab of horrors in the middle of Ghoul town. Since then, I’ve been busy trying to repair my shop from all the damage caused by the attack, using some of the money we earned from the mission to do some important security up grades. The other members of our rag tag group since then have stayed in touch, and I think we are starting to see the formation of an actual team. Plus I think that each of us feels there is something still left undone, as though we have yet to see the real end to this whole mission. I tried to do some more digging into to the origin of the Lab of Horrors but haven’t come up with anything substantial enough to write home about. The idea that a new breed of bug spirits in the form of polluted crab spirits living in Seattle still keeps me up at night, but I hesitate to raise any alarms just yet because I don’t want that kind of heat on me and my team.
I also tried to track down the whereabouts of my Spy Drone that went missing after the mission with little success. I’m still perplexed as to why it totally went rouge and still managed to deliver our pay data to the Mr. Johnson. I tried to interrogate Smiley about it but he just reverted to his Faux Jamaican accent and feigned complete ignorance and told me “Don’t worry about it Mama, you got your money.”
But I am worrying about it. I can’t just let go what I saw, and the fact that some sort of unknown force took over my drone has me all but ready to march back down to the lab and find out more about whats going on. However I’m not ready to do that because, for one I don’t want to face those crab creatures again, for another, I have no idea who came out victorious in the Ghoul Street war that erupted as we were escaping the compound. If Tree Stalker managed to come out on top, I can see her being less than hospitable towards us trying to come back to her turf to further investigate my fears.
I did receive a replacement drone, from what I suspect was Smiley. I’ve started retrofitting it and putting some new gear on my other drones to make them a little more useful in future missions. So for now I guess we just wait, and see if anything further comes of this whole ordeal. At least I’ve managed to make some friends along the way.
I’ll keep you updated as to if I find out anything else, dear readers. Till then…

Dear Readers,
I am writing to you from the safety of the TSV, having just now barely manage to make it out of Ghoul town intact. When we had reached the outside of the compound, we found ourselves smack dab in the middle of some Ghoul Street War. Dodging arrows and bullets, and trying to subdue some of the Ghouls from taking the moment of chaos to make a meal out of one of us, we fought our way to through the throng and loaded up into the TSV, driving out of the war zone as fast as I could handle. We found out that Issac, the German Security guy is actually really great at tactical planning and when issuing orders, we all seem to do a lot better in stressful battle situations. We still are not quite sure what Ghost Tusk actually does, though Lucy Guns had ever more crazy bullets that he aptly employed in the ground battle against the Ghouls. As we were leaving, we spotted a monstrous creature that was lumbering towards us through the throng of bullets and mayhem; a creature with one eye and a bifurcated jaw that seemed like it may have been another gruesome experiment produced in this lab of horrors. Not wanting to stick around long enough to find out what this creature was, we peeled out of Ghoul town and headed back towards the rendezvous point to meet up with our fixer and find out exactly what the hell he was thinking about sending on us on this job.
When I went to check the pay data however, I was dismayed to find that the hard drive was completely empty. Horrified, I looked around nervously as I told the team that I had somehow managed to delete all our pay data, when suddenly our fixer called in to say that he received the pay data and we had all been paid. This was of course a shock to all of us considering I had just realized all pay data had been deleted from the hard drive. I also realized that I had lost access to the spy drone that I had downloaded all the data into and sent back to the TSV. I am not sure what happened to my spy drone, but I intend to find out when we meet back up with our fixer.

Next session: What the frag happened to Excetera ’s spy drone, and other questions to ask Smiley.

We made it to the Surface
But we aren't out of the woods yet

Dear Readers,
I am posting a quick addendum to my previous update: We were able to make it out to the surface, relatively intact. As I mentioned in my previous post, we made some rather unsettling and disturbing revelations about the creatures that are being produced in the labs below the building. Here is a photo I managed to get of the creatures with my drone
mage_port.jpg
crab.JPG

TechnoViking has indicated that these deformed creatures produced in the lab may be some unholy combination of Bug Spirits and Voodoo magic combine with Toxic Shaman powers that he has never before seen. Luckily they don’t seem to be immune to bullets, however after shooting them into crab paste, they seem to have the ability to re-coalesce and come back to life. Also one of our colleagues, I dub Lucy Gun, has a very interesting array of bullets that I’ve been mightily impressed with that were able to subdue the creatures so we can get out. When we return to the safety of my TSV, I’m going to start working on trying to figure out what is on this hard drive, and incidentally downloaded on my spy drone, while the magically folk start asking their contacts about what the frag is up with these crab creatures. I hope to have more information to update to you soon, dear readers.

Before all that we need to make it out of Ghoul town. We were granted access by the local Ghoul Overlord, the Garbage Man, however it came with the price of helping him with this domestic matter. We apparently have to “talk” or I guess take out his former lover and rival, a rather terrifying Ghoul entity and former elf named Tree Stalker. I will try to update as to how we handle this task as soon as I can. Till then Excetera out.

Excetera here,
We’ve managed to make it to the upper levels of the building. This pay data has become a lot more involved to recover than we could have anticipated.

We have been fighting dozens of these manufactured mutated crab automatons as we make our way to the upper layers of the building. I have the physical hard drive as per the job description, but removing it initiated a complete shutdown of the building. Luckily my Drone had safety lights and we were able to pick our way through the corridors of the building.

The TechnoViking has discovered through astral perception combat that these automatons are some sort of freakish combination of Voodoo and Bug Spirits in a configuration he has never known before. He’s pretty intense about it so I am likely to believe him, though I’m still not really sure about the magical aspects to this place.

Speaking of Magic, we totally randomly bumped into Spectre. She was apparently wandering around the building looking for her lost spirit that had apparently been trapped down here the night before.

I had sent my spy drone to the TSV, so at least we have a backup of the data, and can remain there until we return. The Ghoul that was sent down here was separated from us and will likely have informed his Boss (Pimp) of our situation.

I am trying to keep focused on the mission as we are still not safely back at the TSV, but my mind is boggling with what we have found in this underground lab facility. Bug Spirits accounted for the complete obliteration of Chicago or at least the justification for nuking it, and if they are somehow nesting in Seattle, this could be bad. The revelation that some how toxic shaman voodoo may be involved in some novel and twisted way is also an anxiety inducing notion. I’m hoping when we reconvene with the Mr. Johnson for this mission, they can illuminate us as to what the frag is going on here.

Till then, Excetera out.

Getting out with the Pay Data
Can we escape in time?

Excertra here. I am uploading this missive to my drone so that in the event I don’t make it out, there is a record of where we are for backup and rescue purposes. We have infiltrated the facility in Ghoul Town and have made a shocking discovery: There seems to be a automated lab that produces these deformed, terrifying bio-automaton crab creatures. We observed no staff running the lab, only machines that seem to be printing these strange creatures that then roam the facility and attack anyone who tries to enter. We were escorted down here by a Ghoul in the employ of the Garbage Man, who agreed to aid us in our endeavor provided we help him with a domestic issue with another resident Ghoul overlord of the area. While the Ghoul sent with us has not especially been helpful, it has been easier to get into the compound with out Ghoul interference. The crab creatures are apparently unknown to the Ghouls, though they are sensitive to the background count of the area.
I have just now downloaded the pay data that we were sent to retrieve from this secret lab facility when all of a sudden, sirens and emergency lights have activated. I am going to store this data along with this message with the specifics of our location into my spy drone and send it back to the TSV (Totally Sweet Van) in the event we are not able to make it back out. Send help to Spectre immediately and tell her to trust the Garbage Man, and rescue us. I pray to the Great Spirit this does not come to pass and we are able to make it out of here alive, but for all intensive purposes, the world needs to know about this perverted and profane experiment that is being conducted down here. I will update once I am back to safety, or else…
Execetra out.
